Spit for the Cure
Spit for the Cure is a research study conducted at the Arkansas Cancer Research Center at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. We are launching Spit for the Cure during the events associated with the 2007 Susan G. Komen Arkansas Race for the CureĀ®.
The Komen Arkansas Race for the Cure is one of the largest turnouts of women united in their fight against breast cancer in the US. Traditionally, over 40,000 people per year participate in the race, raising money for research and highlighting breast cancer awareness.
Women participating in the Susan G. Komen Arkansas Race for the Cure, Komen Arkansas Affiliate events, and events sponsored by outside community groups or businesses in Arkansas are asked to be in this study. Participants must be at least 18 years of age and will be asked to provide a saliva sample (for DNA extraction), answer a short questionnaire and indicate if they are willing to be recontacted for follow-up studies.
Recruitment of participants during the Susan G. Komen Arkansas Race for the Cure and associated events will put Arkansas women in the forefront in the fight against breast cancer.
This program is supported by the Arkansas Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure in conjunction with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and the Arkansas Cancer Research Center. For enrollment information, contact:
