Lawrence Memorial Health Foundation, in partnership with Susan G. Komen For the Cure, will seek to provide diagnostic services, educational outreach and general information to the citizens of Lawrence and Randolph Counties through a program called “Choose Hope.” More specifically, the Foundation hopes to reach women who fall into categories which may limit their access to breast health services, such as mammograms and diagnostic radiology. These categories include, but are not limited to, low income, underinsured and under age 40. Lawrence Memorial Hospital’s radiology team will work with local healthcare providers to target individuals who need mammography services, but may not be eligible for assistance from other sources, such as BreastCare or insurance. In addition to this service, the “Choose Hope” program will provide monthly educational events to a variety of organizations and groups in the service area. Significant efforts will be made to celebrate and promote breast health during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October 2009.
