The goal of “Breast Health Awareness in the Delta” is to reduce the number of women affected by breast cancer in our patient population by increasing awareness, education, and access to care. Forty-nine percent of Mid-Delta’s patient population is uninsured therefore the need for assistance is great. Outreach, education, testing, and financial support for follow-up treatment will be provided for women in the target group. Care will be provided at a local level and in collaboration with county health units and hospitals. Education, both in the clinical setting and as a part of community outreach programs, is a key to improving future breast health outcomes.
