New Outlook: The Women’s Cancer Recovery Program of St. Vincent Health System offers all Arkansas women diagnosed with cancer a full range of supportive, non-medical services to strengthen the whole woman—body, mind and spirit—regardless of her economic situation or where she is receiving treatment. New Outlook services include prosthesis fitting and wardrobe consultation, wig and hair styling (wigs provided), makeup consultation, educational materials, print and dvd library, nutritional and exercise counseling, support groups and referral services. With assistance from the Arkansas Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, New Outlook provides mastectomy bras and prostheses at no charge to women across the state of Arkansas who do not have insurance coverage for these items and thus cannot afford to pay for them. Funds from Komen for the Cure will also be used to assist women in dealing with lymphedema, providing free massage therapy and lymphedema sleeves to women who need them and have no insurance or who are underinsured, and offering massage techniques pre- or post-surgery that will help prevent lymphedema.
