WRHS’s project will provide free clinical breast exams, mammography services (screening, diagnostic & ultrasound) and needle guided biopsies to medically underserved individuals in the north central delta region of Arkansas who are 40-45 years old. Funding will also provide transportation assistance to breast cancer patients seeking radiation treatment at the WRMC Cancer Care center in Batesville. WRHS’s 2 mammography facilities and 6 rural health clinics are available to provide services close to the patient’s home. To be eligible for services, patients must be uninsured, underinsured and not qualified for BreastCare. Individuals outside of the target age range will not be turned away if they have a genetic history and/or their physician deems their risk signifigant. WRHS will colaborate with EncorePlus, ADH, and physicians throughout the service area to accommodate referrals for free services. This project will save lives by detecting breast cancer earlier for best treatment outcomes, while ensuring quality and efficient care with compassion, respect, and dignity.
