Major step in personalized treatment — Thanks to a 2007 research grant from Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, scientists identified a set of 50 genes that oncologists can potentially use to tailor individualized treatments for all breast cancer patients.
Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s promise is to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to discover the cures. To meet this promise, affiliates rely on the information obtained through the bi-annual community profile process to determine the areas of need in their communities and guide them in the work they must accomplish.
A quality community profile helps Komen Affiliates understand the state of breast cancer in their service areas and guarantees that mission and non-mission work is targeted and non-duplicative. It also allows Affiliates to:The "Community Profile Report" refers to the report Affiliates submit to Komen Headquarters detailing the comprehensive and collaborative findings of their assessment and defining the priorities in their communities.
